Use of chia

General remarks:

  • Chiaseeds are tasteless and can therefore be used in water, juice, smoothies, muesli, youghurt, shepherd’s cheese, soups, vegetables, salads, bread and other forms of baked goods. Chiaseeds will fit more or less anything.
  • Amount: Start by consuming a teaspoon of chiaseeds on a daily basis. If you feel good with this amount, you can adjust. According to the Novel Food rules, that includes Chiaseeds, because they are imported after 1997, the daily amount of chiaseeds should NOT superseed 15mg.
  • As food chia seeds are excellent in a diet. This is due to the high amount of omega3-oils, fibers and proteins. Chia seeds are not a food supplement.
  • Of you dissolve chiaseeds in a glass of water for 20 minutes before you eat them, you will feel a notable difference. Your hunger will be reduced, because the seeds are so rich in sustenance.
  • Chia seeds are successful digestive aids. Take 1 scoop dissolved in your meal at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Then you will notice how it affects your digestion.
  • If you choose to bake with Chiaseeds, the moisture in the baked good, will make it last longer before it spoils.

Simple examples of the use of chia seeds:

  1. Chia Fresca – the traditional mexican recipe:
    1 tablespoon of Chiaseeds in a big glass of water
    Little bit of lemon juice
    Sugar to taste (Stevia is really good here)
    Stir and let it absorb for 10 minutes
    Enjoy! – gives energy and power

  2. Fruit juice with Chia
    1 Tablespoon of Chiaseeds in a glass of fruit juice
    Let is absorb for 20 minutes, and then enjoy!
    The taste will not have changed, but the consistency will be similar to a smoothie

  3. For breakfast:
    3 tablespoons of yoghurt
    a piece of fresh fruit
    1 tablespoon of Chiaseeds
    Stir, and let it absorb for 10 minutes – enjoy!

  4. Chia pudding
    Mix Almondmilk with fresh fruit and then pour Chiaseeds in.
    Let is absorb untill the mixture looks like pudding
    Goes well with Coconut chips or other snacks.

  5. Spicy cheeseomelet with Chia:
    2 eggs
    1-2 tablespoons of Chiaseeds
    Mix everything in a pot and heat up. Garnish with cheese at the end
